Yumthang Valley, popularly crowned as the "Valley of Flowers of Sikkim," is a breathtaking nature sanctuary situated at a dizzying elevation of 3,564 metres (11,693 ft) in the Mangan district of North Sikkim. Located roughly 140–150 km from the state capital, Gangtok, it is world-renowned for its rolling alpine meadows, snow-clad Himalayan peaks, meandering pine forests, and a shimmering tributary of the Teesta River flowing right through its heart.
Key Highlights & Attractions
Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary: Nestled within the valley, this reserve protects over 24 distinct species of rhododendrons—the state flower—which explode into vibrant reds, pinks, and purples during spring. March to May the flowers blossoms, September to November the sky is clear and December to February more cold frozen the hill, temperature upto -15° decrease.
